Why Start Young?

For a small child, the first goal is not to swim a long distance.
The first goal is to feel safe, relaxed and happy in water.

Our young children’s program introduces water through simple movements, games and age-appropriate exercises. Children gradually learn to trust the water and follow basic safety instructions.

What Will Children Learn?

Training may include:

  • Becoming comfortable in water
  • Safe pool entry and exit
  • Putting the face in water
  • Basic breath control
  • Supported floating
  • Simple kicking and movement
  • Following water-safety instructions
  • Gradually developing independence in water

Please note that…

A parent or guardian may be required to remain nearby or participate in the session depending on the child’s age, confidence and the pool’s rules.

Important: Learning to swim does not make a young child drown-proof. Children should always be supervised around water
